People secure a house to live in and prepare what they will use tomorrow, but they easily put off the question of where they will dwell after the life on this earth is over. If what they have is plentiful, they regard the days ahead as safe, too; yet riches cannot stay with us forever, and no one can prepare a dwelling beyond death with what he has piled up. That Jesus spoke of the everlasting home in Luke chapter 16 makes us reflect on what we are holding on to now and whether we are living while looking toward the kingdom we will enter in the future.
