While there was a man seeking an opportunity to hand Jesus over, the Lord had His disciples prepare the Passover He would keep with them. After recording, “Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed” (Luke 22:7), Luke goes on to say, “He sent Peter and John, saying, ‘Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat’” (Luke 22:8). Peter and John had to set out for the preparation the Lord had entrusted to them. Outwardly it was a matter of arranging a place to eat, but that place was the place where the Lord would teach His disciples the meaning of His body and blood. When we read this preparation, too, we must see together the Lord’s will that lies behind it.
