Being together in the place where the word is heard does not mean that everyone hears it with the same heart. Some try to correct their own thoughts through the word, and some try to do away with the uncomfortable word in order to keep their own position. When Jesus taught in the temple, too, that difference was revealed. The people listened attentively to the word of the Lord, but the leaders tried to kill Jesus. Looking at these two responses, we must not stop at judging who is speaking rightly, but must examine how we ourselves are treating the word of the Lord.
