Show Notes

Today we have read Luke chapter 23. Recorded here are the words our Lord spoke when Jesus, bearing the cross, went up the hill of Golgotha, and all the events that took place at that time. The word that stands out most to us here is “a great multitude of the people followed Him, and women who also mourned and lamented Him” (Luke 23:27). Jesus was convicted as a sinner in Pilate’s court and became a condemned man. Although Pilate said that Jesus had no crime deserving death, he released Barabbas as the people demanded and handed Jesus over to be crucified. At that time, when Jesus, bearing the cross, was going up toward the hill of Golgotha, there was a great multitude of the people and of women who beat their breasts and wept bitterly for Him. Many people who had followed Jesus, who had cared for Him, and who had known Him in ordinary times followed Him, beating their breasts and weeping bitterly.
