Show Notes

The word that one must leave the place where one has long lived is hard to accept easily. For the more a place holds one’s familiar home and life, the more it feels as though one would be safe only by staying in it. But Jesus said, “When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near” (Luke 21:20). What was needed at that time was not self-assurance that the city would not fall, but hearing the word of the Lord, who had warned in advance. Even if it is a place we have loved and relied on, if the Lord says to flee, we must follow that word.
