At the time for remembering the grace of the salvation they had received, there were people who were looking for a way to kill the Savior. Luke begins this chapter by saying, “The Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover” (Luke 22:1), and then immediately shows the plan of the chief priests and the scribes. The mere fact that the feast was drawing near did not bring people’s hearts near to God. Whom they were receiving mattered no less than what they were keeping. The fact that one can oppose the Savior whom God sent, even while in a position of serving God, is revealed in this short text.
