When Jesus was hanging on the Cross, the sun was darkened and darkness came over all the earth. While that darkness continued, the veil of the temple was torn, and the Lord, after committing His spirit into the Father’s hands, breathed His last. To the eyes of the people who saw Jesus’ death, it was the sight of one life coming to an end, but through that death the opening of the way to approach God was being accomplished. As we look at this scene, we must know, together with the suffering the Lord underwent, what He gave us through that suffering.
